- HEUBI, Helen Coleman (née Allen) - Peacefully, at 82, on June 11, 2013 after a severe stroke. Predeceased by husband, Paul Heubi. Survived by brothers Peter R. (Toronto), Hugh A. J. (Forest Mills, ON), daughters Anne Louise and Mary (Eric Marr) and grandchildren Assantewa, Ameche, Carrick, Oliver and Eloïse. Trained as a linguist (Victoria College, class of 5T3), she taught French and German in Ontario for some years. Later in Switzerland she worked for several international organizations. Paul and Helen retired to Ontario, where she pursued part-time journalism. She was an accomplished writer of light verse and prose essays - theatrical and musical criticism, memoirs and humorous pieces. Her love of writing and music inspired others. With the arrival of the Internet, her audience expanded. Helen was born to blog and only ill health could stop her. A memorial service will take place at a future date.
