| 3185 | ANCESTRY MESSAGE BOARD Re: Morrisons from sligo ireland to Tullamore and surrounding area Barb Canton ( View Posts Replies: 8 Posted: 06 Jun 2010 5:29 PM Classification: QUERIES Surnames: Morrison, Sargent Kathy, I would be very interested in making contact. I have hit my proverbial "brick wall" when it comes to my g-g-grandfather John Morrison. He was born in 1819 in Sligo County and came over before 1844, as that is when he married my g-g-grandmother Eliza Sargent (also from Ireland. Co. Derry). They were married 10 Jan 1844 at St. James Cathedral, York, Ontario. However, by 1861 were farming in Rosemont, Simcoe Co.(now Dufferin). I have all the history from then on. One of the witnesses at their wedding was a William Sargent, who I believe may have been Eliza's brother..... and he was living in Gore Twsp, Peel Co. at the time. Perhaps they met in Peel?? I can't find any census records prior to '61 to confirm where John lived. Too many Morrisons coming from Ireland .... but where he bought the property, there were two Archibald Morrisons and a Hugh Morrison on connecting lands .... which may be related.... but as yet unconfirmed. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
